Belding's daughter Meg has been kept a virtual prisoner at her father's ranch since her mother ran off.  She is now of age and wants a chance to meet a husband.  Tip White, the only man on the ranch who ever paid her any attention was fired by her father.  Meg gets a job at the Birdcage and ends up married to Tip.  Her father believes the worst and tries to kill them both.
