A wanted man wants to turn himself in to Dan  so that the woman he loves can use the reward to seek medical care in Chicago.  An old boyfriend shows up and makes it clear the woman is not what she appears to be.  She is dying and doesn't want Tom to know an operation will do her no good.  Tom hasn't told her he's a wanted man due to serve a life sentence.  They part with a promise to meet that both know they can't keep.
