For much of its run, Lawman was sponsored by Camel cigarettes.  John Russell and Peter Brown did both print and TV advertising for Camels.  Peter Brown later did print ads for Old Gold cigarettes but not in character.  A sad footnote to this is that John Russell died a very painful death from emphysema in the early 1990's, about the time Peter Brown finally kicked the habit.  [Peter's Laredo costar Neville Brand also died of emphysema in the early 1990's.]

A Peter Brown fan saved this Old Gold ad because she liked the picture of Peter.  She cut out the advertising and was glad to hear that Peter has since quit smoking. [Thanks to Sherry Richter from Maine for sending us a copy.]
