By Fliss
This drabble (exactly 100 words) was written in response to a challenge set by Sharon to select a quote from a Lancer episode then write a drabble in which that line is uttered by a different character in another context. Have fun picking the lines.
As she watched the third cowboy come tumbling out of the broken window of the saloon, swiftly followed by the chair that had sent him into the street, Widow Hargis had had enough. She stormed over to the sheriff’s office.
“Sheriff, can’t you hear what’s going on? Why haven’t you put a stop to it yet? I insist you get over now and do your job. Protect the law-abiding citizens of our town.”
“Are you kiddin’? A man can get killed in that kind of fracas.”
“Oh, Sheriff, really. Anyone can handle a fracas.”
“Miz Hargis… be my guest.”
